It seems more and more of us are reluctant to take a summer holiday, with the Guardian reporting a decrease in workers who were willing to take time off last year. But on reflection, few things are more important than spending some quality time with the family and escaping the stresses of everyday life – if only for a week or two. And as you all go together, it is indeed true, that summer holiday is a family affair!

Family holidays abroad also offer you the chance to explore a new culture together and build some beautiful memories to look back on in later life. Considering how fast children grow up, why not make the most of the time while they still want to go away with mum and dad? With a self-catered villa coupled with the number of fantastic offers available, you’ve got a better chance of controlling your budget and keeping your holiday hassle-free, if you choose self- catered accommodation.

Due to the current state of the Spanish economy, there are some great deals on Spain holidays to be had, and according to The Independent, the British Pound’s current strength against the Euro means your day-to-day spending costs will be significantly lowered. Together with an array of fantastic beaches and vibrant nightlife, Spain also offers a number of historical and cultural activities for the whole family to enjoy. Whether it’s sunbathing, watching a live Flamenco show or having fun at a waterpark – the opportunities are endless.
As well as the vibrant and popular Costa Del Sol region, the Balearic Islands are particularly beautiful – especially the islands of Mallorca and Menorca. And let’s not forget the famous island of Ibiza – not just Europe’s clubbing capital, it also has many beautiful quiet beaches and stunning scenery, making it a popular retirement choice for many British ex-pats.

Alternatively, why not take the trip of a lifetime to the USA? With great deals on Florida villas, you’re bound to provide the family with an experience they’ll never forget. After all, who didn’t want to visit Disney World when they were little -or grown-up for that matter?! With a number of fantastic rides and great restaurants, it will be a trip to remember. There’s also Universal Studios, where you can experience first-hand the magic of cinema with a chance to see an actual film crew at work.
The Gulf Coast is another fantastic destination in Florida with breath-taking beaches boasting endless white sands – the perfect place to play a family game of volley ball or take a stroll on the beach. Or you can just simply lounge under a palm tree and get away from it all. There are also plenty of sporting activities on offer such as golf, water sports and The Everglades National Park if your little ones fancy a day gazing at crocodiles.
The colourful city of Miami is a great place for a memorable family trip – a well-known haunt of the rich and famous, you can feel like a movie star and window shop until you drop in the city’s famous Lincoln Road Mall. You can also admire the 1950s-style buildings in pretty pastel colours, echoing back to when the city was famously frequented by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe. Whatever your preferences, Miami certainly has something for everyone.
So why put it off for another year? Book your dream family holiday today, and build some lasting memories to cherish.

Spain is great if you want the sun but in Cornwall, if you get good weather, you just cannot beat it for a holiday destination.

As nice as Florida is, family holidays cost a lot less if you stick to Europe! The Mediterranean is full of options and Cyprus should be high up on anyone’s list. Beautiful beaches, relaxed laid back culture and friendly locals make Cyprus an excellent choice for family holidays in the Summer
