    Among the many great ski resorts of the United States, the Beaver Creek Resort in Colorado is one of the luxurious ones. Beaver Creek is mostly for those winter sports enthusiasts who like high end services and their budget is not tight. If you want yourself a luxurious winter vacation this year, you should learn more about this Colorado resort.

    Beaver Creek Ski Resort is located near the town of Avon, Eagle County, in Colorado, west of the Vail Ski Resort. This These two and many more US ski resorts are owned and operated by the same company, Vail Resorts, Inc. You can get here by car but you can also book a flight as the closest airport is Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) and it is 25 miles away.

    The world famous resort often gives home to winter sport World Cup events. In 2015 for instance, it will host the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship.

    Beaver Creek Ski Resort facts

    Though luxurious, Beaver Creek Resort is not among the largest one. It consists of 1,815 acres of skiable terrain that has 149 ski runs of different levels of difficulty. As many as 19% of these ski runs are for beginners and about 43% for intermediate skiers. If you have advanced knowledge of skiing and snowboarding, you can use 21% of the trails but 17% are only for experts. The longest run is called the Centennial. It is 2.75 miles long and is great for intermediate and advanced skiers.

    The base of the Beaver Creek Resort is at 8,100 feet while the summit is at 11,440 feet and the vertical drop of the mountain is 3,340 feet. The whole resort is served by 25 ski lifts that start from the three villages at the base of the mountain. The villages are Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek Village and Arrowhead Village. There are gondolas, double chairs, triple chairs, high speed quad chairs and more.

    Note that the average snowfall is about 325 inches every year and the snowiest month is usually march with some 64 inches of snow falling only in this month. There are numerous activities at Beaver Creek Resort in the summer, but for winter activities and sports it is open between late November and early April.

    If you are a beginner or intermediate skier, you should head towards the ski runs of Arrowhead Village or Bachelor Gulch but if you want advanced and expert runs, Beaver Creek Village is the place for you.

    Visitors of all levels of knowledge can learn to ski or snowboard better at the Beaver Creek Resort Ski School. First time skiers can learn from world class instructors but they have useful tips and tricks even on the courses for experts. To make your family vacation even better, there are great ski and snowboard lessons for children at The Ranch, a ski school especially for kids.

    Once they have learned how to start, turn and stop, your kids can try themselves at adventure zones designed for them. Gold Mine, Wolverine Ravine, Wild est trail and others are all runs for kids with sculptures, figurines and easy turns.

    We are still in August, so if you are a wise traveler, you should start searching for and buying lift tickets right now. At the moment you can purchase one to eights day tickets. Just so you get an idea about prices, one day tickets cost $68 for children, $88 for seniors and $98 for adults. But if you want to stay for, let’s say, a week, you will have to pay $434 per child, $490 per senior and $560 per adult.

    There are tens of restaurants of different price ranges you can choose from the Beaver Creek Resort. If you come with your family, you should definitely try Blue Moon Pizza, a nice restaurant with colorful drawings on the wall, happy decoration and great pizza and pasta dishes New York style.

    Mirabelle is a gourmet restaurant with a Belgian chef and imaginative interpretations of classic dishes. The beautiful fireplace makes it perfect for a romantic dinner as well. For a great evening with friends try one of the mouth watering steaks and barbecues of Dusty Boot Steakhouse and Saloon.

    Mountainside Bar and Grill can be the perfect start for your day with its wide selection of buffet breakfast dishes every day. It is located at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek and offers fresh fruits, omelets, cereals and a lot more. Avon Bakery and Deli offers delicious breakfast dishes including cheese bagels, burritos and pastries. Spruce Saddle restaurant serves classic warm dishes that will feel so good in the middle on a day you spend skiing. Choose from chili, pastas, stews, salad bars and more.

    There are dozens of lodging options you can choose from. If you come with a high budget, stay in one of the ski in and ski out rooms of the 5 star Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch. It has a hot tub, indoor pool and it is close to the slopes. Highlands Slopeside is in Beaver Creek and is another luxury hotel, but this is even closer, only 100 yards away from the lifts.

    If you want something more modest in price, you should consider Chapel Square in Avon, a bit longer distance away form the runs but a lot cheaper. At Arrowheads Private homes you can get yourself an entire apartment and spend the Beaver Creek Resort vacation surrounded by your family or friends.
