Caribbean Travel Guide

Caribbean's map We know the first thing you think of when saying Caribbean is pirates, but the region is so much more than its tumultous history. Nowadays, the Caribbean are virtually filled with heaven-on-Earth locations and vacation resorts and if lying lazily in the sun, with a pristine clear blue sea at your feet is your idea of a dream vacation, there's no other place to be other than the Caribbean Islands. We decided to wrap up a short Caribbean travel guide, to give you some insight on why many Europeans and North Americans consider the Islands the perfect vacation destination.

The term Caribbean generally refers to the islands and islets encompassed by the Caribbean Sea. The Caribbean represented the first step in the colonization of America: this is where Christopher Columbus first landed his crew. This is also why the Caribbean population is very diverse: from indigenous tribes to Africans and Indians, the inhabitants of the Caribbean speak most of world's languages, including some unique Creole dialects.

Due to its tropical climate, numerous beaches and warm waters, the Caribbean represents a popular travel destination, especially for North Americans. Favorite spots include the Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands or Jamaica. In order to accommodate this huge flow of tourists, Caribbean states have developed numerous world class resorts and get much of their country income from tourism. On the list of most exclusive Caribbean resorts are places like: Sandy Lane Barbados, Casa de Campo Dominican Republic, Jumby Bay Antigua, Goldeneye Villas Jamaica or the Ocean Club in Bahamas.

The islands forming the Caribbean archipelago are mainly of volcanic religion, which is the cause of their rugged, spectacular aspect. The volcanic soil breeds a luxuriant vegetation and thick woods. However gorgeous, nature is not the main attraction for those visiting the Caribbean – some of these cities host the hottest parties on the continent: nightlife in Montego Bay, Havana, San Juan or Bridgetown needs no further introduction. Another good reason to go the Caribbean Islands is their famous cuisine: with such a mixture of cultures, the result can only be delicious.
