Nice pause during our trip. The place was made up of only of 3 houses, a small railwaystation with a little restaurant, I guess you could call it this way, and a little aunties shop.

It's a longer time ago, when I was there, but the beach is still as nice nowadays, as far as i heard. You could camp everywhere there in the woods or at the beach. You normally meet a lot of other bagpackers there too, so it never gets boring, even without any bars or restaurants.

It's a good possibility to stop during a trip and enjoy the sea, and you'll surely always have fun!

Chalkida Sights

Karababa Castle. In 1204, the castle was constructed by the Venetians. During that time, Karababa - called Forte del Negroponte during that period - was known as one of the strongest castles. When the Turks invaded the city in 1470, they changed the name to Karababa. Visitors would find several ruins of a big water cistern and two 19th century Russian canons in the vicinity of the castle. These wondrous Chalkida sights are as astounding as other cities in Greece. They may be closely compared to Kavala tourist attractions. Take time out to visit these two magnificent cities on the European continent.... Read more »

Matala is a nice Greek town - Apr 1, 2009, by Wazling
It's a small greek city, offering not much nightlife or something like that. It's more the nature, that makes the area attractive. Matala has got some nice beaches, some surrounded by stone age caves, or occupied by old aged hippies. If you... Read more »
