San Jose History

San Jose, California was established in 1777 as Pueblo de San Jose. Before its establishment, the city used to be inhabited by the Ohlones - a distinct collection of different Native American tribes. San Jose used to be a predominantly agricultural area as the Ohlones tilled the land and stayed in the seashore.
