San Francisco Sights and Landmarks Guide, California

San Francisco happens to be one of the heart throb towns of the Californian state bringing in several visitors throughout the year. The city of San Francisco has numerous sights and attractions that may not be covered in a short time. However, we may be able to guide you regarding the places that you should not miss, if you visit the city.

Alcatraz Island

Staged at the central region of San Francisco bay, Alcatraz Island had been the prison for several infamous convicts, like Al “Scarface” Capone and others, who were deemed to be high risk escapees. It had inmates for about 34 long years, during which it had been the complete setback for criminals with sentences of five years on an average.

 Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill

Constructed in the year 1933, it was built to dedicate the volunteer fire fighters of California, who had risked their lives for the good. The tower is truly a crowned jewel to the beautiful city, and provides a grand 360 degree view of the city and the bay from the Telegraph Hill.

Golden Gate Bridge

Among the many popular bridges all over the world, the Golden Gate Bridge is the most excellent wonder linking Marin County to San Francisco. The mammoth length over which it stretches and the huge amount spent over it makes the bridge stand out among the others. The orange towers of the bridge are visible from almost every home of San Francisco marking the city’s spirit.

 Ghirardelli Square

It is one of the most popular shopping complexes of San Francisco, where you could hang out and choose almost anything you desire. Along with this aspect, the place also provides for various other forms of entertainment and hang-around regions.

Fisherman’s Wharf

For any visitor, this is a must place to visit and is as popular as the Golden Gate Bridge, considering the variety of sea food obtained here, especially crabs, in association with great relaxing atmosphere. Individuals get to see the several maritime ventures, which they might have thought never existed and a lot more at Ghirardelli Square.

Cable Cars  are absolutely great experience with the bird’s view of the city at any time of the year, which is definitely a must for the visitors. You surely wouldn’t want to miss out on any of these, once you have visited the place. Instead, you might wish to stay there longer and enjoy the beauty.

San Francisco generally is considered one of the most charming cities in the US, and I totally agree with that. It's a very popular tourist destination, with same reasons. I've found the city appealing, since it's quite liberal, prosperous, multiculturally diverse with picturesque...

We drove up to San Francisco, which is usually a really boring drive. Driving up the 5 is just terribly slow and the landscape never changes, yikes. We did stop the first time while still on the 101 to pump some gas, and I don't know how, but apparently we never ended up pumping. Probably the...

Well, I guess this is something pretty obvious, but then I guess it's a valid tip. Go visit the Golden gate bridge. Try to come during the late afternoon and maybe wait for sunset, that will make some awesome pictures.
