One of the major attractions in Oradea would be the Castle built more than 800 years ago by the founder of the city, King St. Laszlo of Hungary.

The Castle has got 5 bastions and is under restauration now (Feb. 2011). The building gives home to several, mostly non-profit organizations and foundations, so you cannot visit the inside.

But the outside is really beautiful and during the summer there are all kinds of festivals and concerts in the courtyard among the old walls.

Right next to the Castle you will find the city's new, dendrological, park with lots of special plants, a fountain and a lovely small lake.

Entrance is free to both establishments.

Address:
Str. Cetatii, nr. 1

Price:
Free entrance.

Opening Hours:
8-20

How to get there:
It is about 1 km. south-east of the city center. You go down Calea Clujului str. and turn right at the 1 Decembrie Park and there you are.
