Key West Nightlife, Florida
If you have been to Key West in Florida, you will know for sure what nightlife means in this part of US; but if you have not been to the place yet, you simply cannot imagine it. In fact, there are more watering holes in the Key West area than religious institutions. Key West nightlife means heady pleasure and if you are one who enjoys partying hard, you cannot resist falling in love with Key West nightlife. Most of the night-time entertainment venues stay open till about 4 A.M. very similar to the routine in Miami or West Palm Beach and you can revel till the wee hours of the morning.
Key West Nightlife – Bars and Pubs
Bars, pubs, taverns…Key West has hosts of these. Here we name a few of these for you to go, drink and be merry. Remember, the Cuban mojito is something you should taste when you are in Key West.
Built in 1890, The Green Parrot is Key West’s first bar. They also arrange good music for the guests at this classic bar.
Sloppy Joe’s is Key West’s most famous bar. Frequented by Ernest Hemingway and his drinking buddies, the bar showcases many Hemingway memorabilia. (Sloppy Joe, in fact, was one of Hemingway’s friends named Captain Joe Russell).
Another old drinking hole in Key West is the Schooner Wharf Bar. Standing close to the historic seaport, the bar-cum-grill promises good views and offers food and drinks at reasonable prices.
Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Café is another must-stop bar. Jimmy Buffet’s association with the place sure makes it special but there are other reasons as well - the margaritas will surely make your night but you will also like to listen to live Blues, Reggae, Rock while sipping your drink.
Among Key West’s more modern bars are Afterdeck, Big ‘UNS Sportsbar Key West, Hog’s Breath Saloon, The Lazy Gecko (famous for its frozen daiquiris), Two Friends Bar, Virgilio’s Cocktail Lounge, etc.
Key West Nightlife – Eateries and Entertainment Complexes
Key West is best known for its many drinking holes but the place also has some good restaurants and eateries. La Trattoria serves some excellent Italian fare and El Meson de Pepe’s is famous for its Cuban cookery. You can also try the fast food joint BO's Fish Wagon.
Key West also has a number of entertainment complexes – Bourbon Street Complex, Bull and Whistle Complex, Durty Harry’s and other Duval Street addresses. You have many options at these complexes…you can drink, you can eat, you can dance…do things that you like or simply watch others.
With its rich music circle, film society and many professional theater companies, Key West nightlife also means sober kind of entertainment and promises a lot for the not-so-wild type of people.
