Hong Kong Nightlife, China

The Sounds of Hong Kong

The city of Hong Kong offers its tourists a slew of activities after dark.  Whether it’s a night at the theater or a round of drinks at the club, there’s bound to be a night life activity that will suit your taste and your mood.  After a full day of shopping and touring, stay a while and choose your own after-dark adventure in Hong Kong.

Evening Hotspots

If you happen to find yourself in the SoHo or the Lan Kwai Fong districts at the Hong Kong side of the island, you can take your pick at any of the different restaurants, bars, jazz clubs and upscale bistros that line the streets.

A great bar to check out is the fashionable Armani Bar that offers house music and stylish interior and outdoor spaces.  This part of Hong Kong at night is a great place to mingle especially since the area is pedestrian friendly. You will find most of the after-work crowd partying in this area.

In another part of Hong Kong Island is Wan Chai.  This area is a popular spot for late night parties and stylish bars and night clubs.  Some popular bars in the area are Delaney’s Joe Banana’s and Carnegie’s.

The Kowloon side of Hong Kong is not only a shopping destination.  When the shops close, the night life begins.  Not only will you find night markets around the area like the popular Temple Street Market, but you will also find discos and lounges in hotels that offer live music are everywhere in this district.

One of the most frequented bars by tourists is Ned Kelly’s Stand in Ashley Road.  It’s an Australian-themed jazz bar that features good food and live music.  After a night of partying you can grab a bite to eat at any of the restaurants there.

Night at the Theater

If you’re in for a night of culture and arts, Hong Kong gives you a great selection of entertainment to suit the artistically curious.  To get a taste of traditional Cantonese Opera then head to the Sunbeam Theatre at King’s Road.  But if musicals are more to your liking, then you can check out performances from the Hong Kong Singers at City Hall located at the Edinburgh Place at the Central district.  To those who are celebrated thespians and fans of the theatre arts you can catch the shows from the Hong Kong Players.  Their performances can be seen at the Fringe Theatre Lower Albert Road in Central.

Hong Kong has played host to a lot of famous stage and theatre performances in the past like The Phantom of the Opera, Guys and Dolls and Les Miserables.

A night out at Hong Kong doesn’t have to be in the confines of a theatre or a crowded bar.  You can take a walk along the harbor or stay until the night falls at Victoria Peak and admire the city at night.  Even when the evening settles, Hong Kong is still as vibrant as it is when the sun comes up.
