On a steep, conical hill, the highest point of Oberschwaben (772 m above sea-level) the Waldburg rises. It was the ancestral castle of the lineage of the imperial duke of the same name. From 1221 through 1240 the imperial regalia were kept here.

Waldburg is a really small town really close to Ravensburg where we visited an ancestral castle.

It is a really well maintained castle with a lot of rooms and expositions, like shields, trophies, paintings, and a lot of old furniture. It is funny to find yourself back in time and imagine the lords living there.

A really great destination, not so far away.

This is only one of the castels in that region, maybe next time we can visit more of them.

Cologne Sights

Another one of Cologne’s historical landmarks is the Twelve Romanesque Churches. These structures are perfect examples of medieval architecture and date back to as far as the Roman times. The Rheingarten and Old Town are other landmarks that date back to earlier times. The quaint little areas in the city provide a quiet and relaxing area for enjoying the local beer, “koeisch.”Museums Like every great European city, Cologne is home to several museums and tourists looking for a taste of German art and culture will always have plenty to choose from. One of these museums is the Roemisch-Germanisches Museum, which houses exhibits on ancient... Read more »
