What to see in Waldburg, Germany
Reviews > Europe > Germany > Waldburg > What to see in Waldburg
On a steep, conical hill, the highest point of Oberschwaben (772 m above sea-level) the Waldburg rises. It was the ancestral castle of the lineage of the imperial duke of the same name. From 1221 through 1240 the imperial regalia were kept here.
Waldburg is a really small town really close to Ravensburg where we visited an ancestral castle.
It is a really well maintained castle with a lot of rooms and expositions, like shields, trophies, paintings, and a lot of old furniture. It is funny to find yourself back in time and imagine the lords living there.
A really great destination, not so far away.
This is only one of the castels in that region, maybe next time we can visit more of them.

The traditional drinks in Dusseldorf are: Altbier, a German top-fermenting beer and the liqueur based on herbs, which contains 42% alcohol, called Killepitsch. As far as meals are concerned, you can begin with the local Sauerbraten, which is a slice of beef that has been previously marinated in a mixture of wine, spices and water, before being cooked and continue with a delicious desert called “Sky and Earth”. The latter is a black pudding made with apples and mashed potatoes. It is also a particular custom of this region to serve mustard in a special traditional pot called “"Mostertpöttche"”....
