Colorado Springs is situated on the east of Colorado State Capitol, Denver. It is located near Pikes Peak, the most popular of the American mountains and was selected by the Money Magazine as the No 1 Best Big City of the year 2006. This city successfully draws a lot of tourists every year as people simply love to experience the incredible natural features that surround the place. The city is known for the various trials and the parks that it has owing to its very location being next to the Rocky Mountains. Colorado Springs has also earned enough fame for the spectacular rock formations along with other great geological features.

Great tourist attractions of Colorado Springs

People from all over the world come to Colorado Springs every year to experience great natural surroundings along with amazing recreational and entertainment facilities that the land has to offer. There are many great places and sights in Colorado Springs that make the tourists come here time and time again. Some of them are:

Pikes Peak

It is among the 31 highest mountains of Colorado and is the most famous among all. After the Mount Fuji of Japan, Pikes Peak is the second most visited mountain of the world.

Cave of the winds

It is the oldest attraction of Pikes Peak. The introductory discovery tour, the lantern tour and the explorers trip are conducted here which are of much interest to visitors.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

It houses over 650 animals along with 30 endangered species. The unique critters like Sichuan taken, Wooly Mountain tapir, boreal toads and the okapis can be easily seen here. The giraffe breeding program of the zoo is also very popular. Giraffe hand feeding, face painting, tot train, carousals and the tram tours are also its special features.

Garden of the Gods

This area of the towering red sandstones formations provides a spectacular look and view of Pikes Peak. the attractive features involve the free naturalist- led daily walks, multimedia presentations, living history museum, historic rock ledge ranch along with hiking, biking, horse riding, photography and a lot more.

Olympic training center

The public tours are held here daily absolutely free of cost. They feature a 12 minute long film along with a 45 minute walk tour. The training facilities of the athletes, USA shooting center, sports and coaching science, the sport medicine, the flume and the Aquatics center are all shown on the tour to the inquisitive visitors.
