Ravensburg Travel Guide, Germany
Situation
The city lies at about 17 kilometers nort-east of the lake of conctance. It has got the "Linzgau" on it´s west and the "Altdorfer forrest" on north-east side. The river "Schussen" flows through the town area, then directly in the lake of constance.
Ravensburg is neighboured by varoius villages and cities, like Weingarten, famous for its barock Basilika, one of the biggest in germany, Berg, Horgenzell, Schlier, Grünkraut und Bodnegg.
Climate
Ravensburg lies in a valley, opened to the lake of constance. The lake is a big storage of warmth, so the climate is moderate and in the winter its not as cols as in the region. Sometimes i can be even worse, if the lake freezes completely, happened last time in 1963.
Another effect are the fogs, caused of the warm air, coming up from the lake.
Ravensburg also lies in the direction of the warm winds, coming up from the mediterreanean sea. In the past that made it also possible to grow wine at about 500 metres over NN.
Transports
Ravensburg is good situated, regarding the traffic. Public transport connects you to all the surrounding villages and cities, also to many places within Ravensburg.
Besides that, the city has got an railwaystation, recently renovated, that brings you easily for example to Ulm, which is an railway hub, connecting you to everywhere else in germany or directly to the lake of contance, a well known recreation area.
If you go to Ravensburg by car, it´s also no problem, because all the highways run by the city. For example the B 30, B 31, B 32. And even the highways A96 Lindau to Munich and A8 Ulm to Stuttgart etc. are close by and easy teo reach.
Even a local airport at Friedrichshafen is only about 10 Kilometers away from the city.
Local Business
Ravensburg hast got many shops, where you can buy nearly everthing. It´s the place where the people from around come to to shop.
Besides that, there are some well known companies situated at Ravensburg:
Ravensburger AG, originating from and still having its headquarters in the city, is a well known company producing games, puzzles and books. That copmany made Ravensburg known to the world.
Tekrum is another company with an well known name. It produces bakery and since January 2005 it´s connected to Griesson.
Vetter Pharma, produces systems for the pharma industry.

Ravensburg is a little German town, actually the capital of the district of Ravensburg, Baden-Wuertenberg. A really beautiful medieval town with over 10 towers all over the town and beautiful buildings. The people there are really relaxed, you have to feeling that they have nothing to worry about...The versatility of Ravensburg

Ravensburg is a amazing place. In the two world wars it wasn't heavily hit, so the medieval town is completely preserved. It's really interesting to see for example the old town hall from the 15th century or the many towers of medieval times, still present in the towns view with some parts of the...Why come to Ravensburg?

I live in this town... anybody who has ever been here will confirm that this is one great little place. There are only 50,000 people living here, but live is gooood. the town is small, but had not been destroyed in a long time, so that all old buildings are still intact and make for a real nice...

Marienplatz

The Marienplatz is the center of the city and it's always nice to walk around, grab coffee or go shopping. There are lots of people on Saturdays due to the weekly market. When in Ravensburg, you can't miss the Marienplatz.Rutenfest in July

If you want to go for bathing, just take the train to the Bodensee in the summer. It goes regularly down there.
