Munich Nightlife, Germany

Nightlife in Munich is something you should not miss at all. The locale around the Munchener Freiheit is a well-known nightlife place with its countless cafes, bars, restaurants, dance clubs, jazz venues and horde of students and young people, particularly on Occamstrasse. Then, Haidhausen brings much more alternative sight. The Glockenbachviertel, found along Sendlinger Tor, is the center of gay view. Close by are a number of trendy bars along the streets that glow with Gartnerplatz.

Drink & Enjoy

Want to drink the night away? Munich takes pride in its array of clubs and bars that suits your own taste although the entrance fee and the drink prices could be surprisingly high. Bouncers are known here for being especially choosy. The Feierabend discos run between 1800-2200 hours weeknights and is ever more famous with a little older crowd, enjoying to the music of the 60s, 70s and the 80s. If you are looking for hip clubs, ask around, as they are mostly one-offs. The licensing laws in Munich are not preventive. The city’s pubs and clubs are open until late night and the legal age of drinking is 18.

Munich Bars & Cafes

Among the nice cafes and bars is the Türkenstrasse, known for the place’s links to the sardonic magazine Simplicissimus and retaining a bohemian feel. Tresznjewski, Theresienstrasse gives an imaginative flamboyance. After midnight, by the time it is full up, it turns into an enticing place where the concoctions are something that you can’t get enough of. In the uber-hip Gartnerplatz district, cocktails inns like Müllerstrasse, Ksar Club, Holy Home, Reichenbachstrasse, Lizard Lounge and Corneliusstrasse are often jam-packed with hip crowd and make it impossible to grab a seat right away. The News Bar near the Ludwig Maximilian University is a well-liked hangout among students.

At Gartnerplatz, bars such as Morizz, Klenzestrasse, Café Gluck and Palmstrasse, initially opened as chic gay hang-out, were discovered and conquered by straight partygoers.

Searching for the newest trendy gay bars? Go to Mullerstrasse, serving up info and drinks. Kraftakt opens daily and free access of Wi-Fi. Head to Hofbrauhaus, Platz and to Augustiner Gaststatte, Neuhauser Strasse. Well, if you want your beer fresh, have breaks at the vibrant Viktualienmarkt beer garden. Or, head on to Pfalzer Weinprobierstube, Residenzstrasse for a nice choice of German wines as well as a perky ambiance.

Nightclubbing

Want to go clubbing? Best places are the Alabamahalle, Domagkstrasse with its different clubs in a huge space or Babylon-2, Rosenheimerstrasse, the biggest club in the city, with big, jam-packed dance floors as well as laser shows that’s hard to miss.

Far more personal, the Atomic Café, Neuturmstrasse is a hip destination in Munich that features rock and pop music, DJs and live bands. And of course, New York, Sonnenstrasse is an unfailing gay scene. You can also go to Prinzregentenstrasse - an exclusive and luxurious club. Warm up Park-Cafe, Sophienstrasse has lost exclusivity over time.

Just for the Music Lovers

Experience live music at Muffathalle, Zellstrasse. A popular culture spot that offer live music, dance performances and theater. Its cafe offers foods and drinks at day time, turning into a cool and affable venue at night. Furthermore, Nachtcafé, Maximiliansplatz, brings you jazz, rock and blues. Entrance is free, but cocktails and foods are expensive. For western and country feel, go to Rattlesnake Saloon, Schneeglockchenstrasse while dig in to top-notch live jazz at Einsteinstrasse, Jazzkombinat, Unterfahrt im Einstein and Ainmillerstrasse.
