Rio de Janeiro is rich of culture and history making it one of the top places in the world to go sightseeing. There are dozens of monuments, museums, parks, buildings and theatres to keep you entertained for hours. Rio de Janeiro is so big that even the people who live there still have not seen everything that this huge city has to offer.
If you are looking to relax a bit you should take a walk around one of their beautiful parks which are well maintained and have beautiful flowers and trees decorating these plazas. Here are a few: Campo de Santana, Parque Nacional da Serra Dos Orgaos, Parque Guinle, Quinta da Boa Vista, Jardim Botanico (Botanical Gardens) and Parque do Flamengo. If you want to continue relaxing, try one of these beaches to spend the day on the Atlantic Coast: Arpoador, Leblon, Copacabana, Barra da Tijuca, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Ipanema, Grumari and Sao Conrado.
Rio de Janeiro is famous for its large crucifix of Christ. You can mount a tram which will trolley you up the mountainside to see the Cristo Redentor from where you can then see a panoramic view of the city. It is known as the Corcovado. You can also go to Pao de Azucar which is a famous mountain range in Brazil.
Rio de Janeiro has multiple exquisite buildings. Each has different types of architecture whether it be colonial, gothic, neo classic, ect. The art is also phenomenal in these buildings and they are very well preserved. Some buildings that may be fascinating to visit while in Rio de Janeiro include the Paco Imperial, Casa Franca Brasil, Candelaria Church, Arcos de lapa, Palacio de Catete, Teatro municipal, Catedral Metropolitana, Palacio Gustavo Capanema, Mosteiro de Sao Bento, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, Sao Francisco de Penitancia Church and the Palacio Guanabara.
