Heading to Vegas is always nice for me. I just like the desert. A lot of people find it boring, but to me it's a place of freedom and maybe peace as well, anyhow it will give you time to think about anything you want.

When finally driving into the city, I felt this stange feeling of coming home again. I connect many good memories with Vegas. Most people claim that Vegas is the Sin City and that whathever happens there shall never be told. Well, for me Vegas has nothing that I want to hide, a place where I go to play cards, drink, and hit the buffets, but more importantly it's a city that allows me to get my head cleared of any stress. I think that's what Vegas really is all about, a place where anybody can forget their real life troubles for a little while. Some people just gamble, others hit the night clubs or gentlemen's clubs, or simply hang out at the slot machines and get drunk.

We had booked a room at Hooters, Which offered a great deal for around $30 a night for 3 people. Best of all, it came with free chicken wings and drinks, which of course are free at any casino in Vegas :) as long as you gamble.

We spent most of the days by the pool, but naturally also did the usual sights like the Bellagio Fountain, the shops at Caesar's Palace and the Venetian, we did walk a lot but the main attraction was still gonna be the poker rooms ;)

Anyhow, we played a lot of cards, and had a ton of fun, especially one night when we were sitting with a crowd that would order techila for everyone until they cut us off. We were only playing 2-4 limit, which is usually a super cheap game, but we still managed to get a 200+ dollar hand as our final game. Unfortunately, my hand was beat by a four outer on the river by some lucky Chinese guy.
Anyhow, we managed to go to bed at around 7am-9am every day, which as you can believe was a bit tiring, so all we were good for the next day was he pool and some drinks at the bar.

One highlight we had during our stay in Vegas was our 15 minute helicopter ride over the city. We had an awesome view and it was very cool to actually be in a helicopter. We had a ton of great views, took some good videos, and not a single good photo, which was expectable of course, and which you'll see when looking at my gallery :)

We finally finished our Vegas trip with a walk hrough old town and then headed back to our hotel in order to get some rest so we could leave early next day to Bryce Canyon. Unreal but true, Lori still managed to go play that night. I was beat and could not have gone playing another night knowing that I'll be the one driving the next day as well.

Las Vegas History

Las Vegas, NV, USOn May 15th,1905, Las Vegas was founded as a railroad town.  This was the staging point for the mines in the area, especially the ones around Bullfrog, a town that shipped goods to other parts of the country.  Las Vegas declined in importance with the rapid growth of the railroads, but the Hoover Dam's completion caused a significant growth of tourism, of which led to the building of hotels and casinos which made Las Vegas famous. The American mafia is responsible for the current reputation and status of the city, as the original casinos were either managed or funded by mob figures Meyer Lansky and Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel....
