Bangkok Sights and Landmarks Guide, Thailand
The urban city of Thailand, Bangkok has its roots in the ancient Thai culture. But you do not miss cosmopolitan lifestyle in this city with lots of people wherever you turn. This city of angels is a disciplined city with lower crime rates compared to other cities in the world. An exciting vacation is guaranteed when you visit this ancient Thai village. Bangkok is a popular Buddhist city and you can find many temples in and around the place. The design, architecture as well as methodology of worship in these temples are very different and it is a great experience seeing them worship their Lord.
One of the major attractions in Bangkok is the Grand Palace which has the Buddha statue made of emerald called Wat Phra Kaew. You cannot afford to miss this place when in Bangkok. The place is an architectural bliss. You can admire the beauty of the Palace but cannot take photographs of it.
Just adjacent to the Grand Palace is one of the oldest temples called Wat Pho which was built by King Rama I about two centuries ago. It is famous for the huge gold plated reclining statue of Buddha.
Then there is Wat Arun which means the “Temple of the Dawn” another spectacular sight to be seen when in Bangkok. It is located on the bank of the River Chaophraya. The best time to visit the temple is the dawn when you can experience the early sun light as well as the light that is reflected from the river. It is really silly missing such a great sight if you visit Bangkok.
The Suan Pakkad Palace is a beautiful place comprising of five Thai houses, a spectacular garden having a huge collection of antiques from Asia. One of the places in the palace has huge collection of sea shells and pottery by Ban Chiang.
Then there is the Great Swing or the Wat Sutat, another spectacular temple which is the original place for the famous Giant swing ceremony. The Swing in the temple is used for thanking the Lord for a good rice harvest.
Apart from the Temples for those of you like to peep in some of the bizarre stuff of the past, visit the Correction museum. The museum shows up some gruesome punishments used in Thailand for the prisoners in the recent history of Thailand, but this is something that not everyone enjoys.

So I picked up my Irina and Maria at the airport and then we headed for the first culture shock. I guess we did stop at our hotel first, where we took a quick nap. I also had to run back to my old hotel where I had left my airplane tickets to Krabi. By the way, if you are ever going there,... - Arriving back to Bangkok
