In France, do not hesitate to ask people on the street for directions or anything you are interested to know. French people will be most happy to help you, but the other side of the coin is that they too ask immediately if they have doubts about something. So don't be surprised if during a simple walk you'll be getting a lot of questions about directions, or certain places that they cannot find. And you must be as polite as they are.
