Fort Myers, FL US - Sights: Known For Science And Scenes

In contrast to other cities, Fort Myers is not just a city of parks and museums, but also of inventions. It is a city of technology. From a ‘Cow town’ to ‘City Of Palms’, Fort Myers has evolved a lot in all spheres of development. The city was the winter home of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Even today, tourists can scan the Edison-Ford winter estate. In the month of February, a two week extravaganza is put on. It is called ‘Festival of light’, to show a mark of respect to the man, who gave us the light.

From nightclubs to restaurants and cruises, shops to shell factory, Fort Myers is a ‘name-it-and-have-it’ city. The city and its adjoining reef offer lots of recreational activities. Even baseball games are also held in spring.

Beaches

The main attraction in Fort Myer is the beaches. They are very popular because they provide a combination of sea, sun and sand in the most spectacular way. The list is half complete without the state parks, science centers and museums. To add, are the Sanibel Island and Bonita spring.

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park is for those, who love nature and the tourists can enjoy a calm interlude with nature. It is a part of the four barrier island. The place houses uncountable native and exotic birds, marine and wildlife. Biking, hiking, boating, canoeing, angling, picnics, kayaking and guided tours are the amenities available. You can also enjoy shelling.

Lynn Hall Memorial Park and Pier

Located near the Times Square, Lynn Hall Memorial Park and Pier is a very famous attraction for anglers and families. The beach, which the park features, has facilities like restrooms, showers, playground, covered picnic tables, kiosk, flora and fauna. It also features a 550-feet pier which offers fishing.

Dog Beach

Dog Beach is for those, who want to spend the vacation with their pets. Located near the Bonita spring, it allows dogs to wander freely.

Bow Ditch Point Recreational Park

Bow Ditch Point Recreational Park is for those, who want to enjoy a romantic and quite moment on the stretches of the white sandy beach. You can enjoy a picturesque surrounding coupled with a spectacular sunset. Eating 17 acres of land, it actually includes a 7-acre park stretched between the bay and the beach. You can also pay a visit to the 10-acre natural reserve, which houses 3 distinct habitats.
