Taipei Nightlife, Taiwan
A bustling commercial city by day, Taipei offers a different mood by night. Though having milder and mellower night activities than Tokyo or Hong Kong, Taipei has its own diverse nighttime attractions to offer.
Taipei nightlife caters from the fancy to the outgoing. Bars, restaurants, night market spots and malls provide an array of evening-out options.
Night Shopping At Its Best
Core Pacific Living Mall -Dubbed as Asia’s largest shopping center under one roof, the Core Pacific Mall has stores open 24-hours a day which also gives it a different edge. This huge shopping complex offers not just an all-night shopping experience, but also a large food court for dinning and cinema complex to go with. It also houses the popular nightclub Plush.
Shilin Night Market -Guests have not really experienced Taipei nightlife if they have not been to the city’s night markets. These markets offer a different shopping and dining pleasure that’s more budget friendly. And who can miss the Shilin Night Market? This complex is obviously the biggest and has the widest array of goods on sale from food, to shoes to textiles.
It is here where one can find vendor foods galore. At a much cheaper price, one can get a sample of street delicacies. Some of the favorite night market snacks include: oyster omelet, stinky tofu, tianbula or Taiwanese tempura, oyster, vermicelli, pearl, milk te,a stir fried cuttlefish and soy braised foods.
Taipei Nightspots and Restaurants
Brown Sugar -Tourists can experience live jazz music every night in Taiwan’s famous jazz club. They also play live Latino music on Sundays. This club offers a cool and jazzy ambiance and excellent food on the menu to go with.
Wall Live House and Luxy’s -For those who crave for an all night fun of music, the Wall Live House features local music acts and artists. Luxy’s on the other hand has disc jockeys and bands from the international scene. Since the city is a stopping point for international acts, Taipei’s music talents and industry are now also on the rise.
Zaga Zaga -This is Taiwan’s priciest but trendiest nightspot so far. Located inside the high-end Hyatt Hotel, Zaga Zaga also offers excellent and scrumptious Italian cuisine.
Jr. Caffe and Roxy 99 -These are low-key but popular clubs among college students of Taipei’s National University. Anyone is welcomed to hang out and strike up a friendly conversation until the night’s end in these places.
Subtle but Enjoyable Treat
National Concert Hall- While this gigantic structure all seems too grand by day, it is actually a view worth seeing at night. The lights give it a more majestic and royal picture with Taiwan’s night sky at the background.
Chinese Opera at the National Theater -Taiwanese arts and performances are a different treat for any night out. Guests can catch both local and international performers at the National Theater. Seeing these traditional performances can give guests a background and appreciation of Chinese art and culture.
