The city of Colombo happens to be the former capital city for the country of Sri Lanka, the current administrative capital of Sri Lanka being the nearby city of Sri Jayewardenepura - Kotte. The word Colombo was inspired from Kolon thota which happens to be a Sinhalese word. Due to the huge population, the city of Colombo was ranked as the most populated city in the country of Sri Lanka.

As the city of Colombo was the administrative capital for the country of Sri Lanka for many years, the head offices of many huge organizations are in the city of Colombo itself thus strengthening the economical backbone of this fast moving city. In the center of the city the second tallest building is situated which is named as The World Trade Center. This building is the second tallest building when compared to all other buildings in South Asia.
