Szczecin is the seventh largest city in Poland and is the capital of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The city lies on the banks of the Oder River, Dabie Lake and Pomeranian Bay and is also located near the German border. People can use different kinds of transportation when going into Szczecin. Approximately 50km away from the city center is the Szczecin-Goleniow Airport. Second, is LOT that has four daily flights arriving from and departing to Warsaw. Another is the Centralwings that travels four times a week to and from Dublin. Another mode of transportation that people can use to reach Szczecin is the train. Szczecin Glowny is the primary train station and it is located 1km away from the city center. One major railway is the Polish State Railways which links Szczecin to other main cities in the country. It has daily trips to Warsaw, Poznan, Kolobrzeg, and Gdansk. The other railway is the German Railway that connects Szczecin to cities like Amsterdam and Berlin, and cities in Western Pomerania.

Buses can also take travelers into Szczecin. Some of the bus lines that serve the city are Evatrans, Polski Express and Interglobus. These buses have trips to and from different cities in Poland as well as cities in Germany such as Berlin.

There are a lot of transportation options when exploring the city. When touring the city center, people can just simply walk around or rent a bicycle. When going to other parts of Szczecin, travelers can choose to ride a bus, a tram, a taxi or rent a car.

Aside from being a major seaport, Szczecin is also the cultural capital of West Pomerania. One of the major events held in the city is the Sea Days Festival during the month of June. This festival is also considered one of the largest outdoor events in the country. Other events taking place in the city are Castle Artistic Summer from June until September, Szczecin Rock Festival in June, Street Theatre Festival and Boogie Brain Festival, which are both conducted in July.
