Lodz Sights and Landmarks Guide, Poland

Lodz was deemed as nothing more than a dull city for years until recently. At present, many tourists take pleasure in exploring the newly and brilliantly reconstructed buildings in the city. Lodz Sights – Famous Landmarks

Church of the Holy Trinity. This church, designed by the architect Bonifacy Witkowski, dominates the main square of Lodz. At present, the Church of the Holy Trinity is used by the Roman Catholics.

Herbst’s Residence. This residence was built in 1875 after Edward Herbst, a prominent personality in the textile industry, married Matylda Scheibler. This Italian Renaissance villa is one of the most visited historical landmarks in Lodz. This cultural heritage of the city is deemed remarkable by many tourists who have gone to the Herbst’s residence.

Lodz Sights – Museums

Museums found in Lodz offer a wide variety of collections from different fields of study. They serve as means for visitors to learn a bit more about the culture, lifestyle and history of this splendid city.

Sztuki Museum. This is one of the first museums in Europe to display modern art. Sztuki Museum has a very remarkable collection of 20th century art from Poland and all over the world. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday. Visitors will have to pay an admission fee when entering the museum except for Thursdays.

Museum of the History of Lodz. This museum has many stunning rooms housing different exhibitions. The displays in the museum are devoted to several of the notable personalities from Lodz like Julian Tuwim - a writer - and Artur Rubenstein - a pianist. It also has collections showcasing the lives of people who have lived in the city throughout its history.

Lodz Sights – Parks and Gardens

The city of Lodz has open-air tourist spots, which people can visit anytime to experience all good fun. The parks and gardens of the city are ideal to both the young and the old, who want to relax and have an enjoyable time.

Lunapark. This is an amusement park located near the city of Lodz. The park opened its doors to visitors in the 1970s. The admission is free although they charge per ride. People can enjoy riding at the different attractions of the park such as the standing carousel and a 16-meter high roller coaster.

Botanical Gardens. This is a 64.1 hectare park in the recreational district of Lodz. It has about 3,500 species of plants divided in different sections. It has an alpine and a Japanese garden, a section dedicated to the flora found in Poland, and another section for herbal and medicinal plants.

All people, young and old alike, will surely find pleasure in exploring Lodz Sights. These attractions are found under the most charming sights in Poland and in Europe. Furthermore, one may closely compare these destinations to those found in Szczecin Sights and Warsaw Sights.
