Coimbatore is one of the busiest industrial hubs of India but not that famous when it come to tourism industry. Tourism in Coimbatore is still waiting to get that push which has helped other cities of India become the most important tourist destinations. It is not that Coimbatore has no tourist hot spots, but somehow Coimbatore hasn’t been able to leave a mark on the tourist map of India.

Coimbatore is famous for one day visits where people drive to Coimbatore with picnic plans and drive back in the evening. The reason for tourists pouring in is that Coimbatore is surrounded by huge number of hills. Some hilly regions in the proximity of Coimbatore are: Thirumurthy Waterfalls (which is around 90 kilometer from the city), Monkey Falls (around 75 kilometer from the city), Topslip town (again around 90 kilometer), Kallar river banks (some 55 kilometer), Kodiveri (around 75 kilometer), Marudhamali Hill Temple (around 20 kilometer), Bhavani Sagar (which is around 55 kilometer), and Vydehi Water falls (around 35 kilometer) etc.

Most of the above mentioned hilly regions aren’t so famous amongst visitors and hence if some of you visit these hilly areas then you will surely get a peaceful area to cool down your brain. The biggest advantage is that the roads, which connect the city to these, hills are awesome and they way above the normal Indian Road Standards!

Some famous temples in and around the city of Coimbatore are: Eachanaari Vinayaga Temples, which is located somewhere in Pollachi Road, Dhyana Yogic Temple, Anubhavi Subramniar Temple (which is famous for its natural spring which keeps oozing water nonstop throughout the year), Marudhamalai Hill Temple, Lord Ganesha Temple (which houses the largest statue of Lord Ganesha when compared to the rest of Asia), and Perur Siva Temple etc. There are many more temples in the city and you might well need many days to actually visit all of these.
