Huainan is one of the most important cities in China. The city is one of the largest coal producing areas for China. Apart from being the energy powerhouse for the nation, the city is known for its natural beauty. The city holds the title of being the first one to give the world the famous ‘Bean curd’. One of the most famous locations in the region is the battlefield of the Feishui battle. Architectural Heritage

The beautiful temples in the region speak of the classic architectural taste of the people of Huainan. One of the most notable constructions is the Qingtian Taoist Temple. The temple stands on a mountain slope and covers a huge area of around three hundred square kilometers. Near the magnificent temple stands another piece of brilliant construction in the form of a courtyard which has sky-high cypresses. The architecture of the Taoist buildings near the temple is a notable feature. Another remarkable architectural marvel is the Treasure Palace of Sanqing that stands near the temple.

Infrastructure and Economy

Huainan is one of the richest cities of China since the city is among the major coal producing regions in the country. Apart from coal, other industries that support the economy of the city are the machine building, iron and steel and chemicals. There are a good number of agriculture based industries like tobacco processing, rice, wheat and soya bean industries. The city holds a sound infrastructure and is well connected by a system of railways to important cities like Hefei, Xuzhou etc.
