Guiyang History, China

Guiyang is one of the beautiful cities in China that has interesting history. The history of Guiyang features the political, economical, and cultural center of the city. The city is known to have beautiful tourist attraction also.

Guiyang was built as early as 1283 AD on the time of the Yuan Dynasty. The areas are originally inhabited by non-Chinese. The Sui dynasty in 581-618 AD commanded the place and the Tang dynasty in 618-907 was the prefecture. The area was made as the place of the army and the pacification office during the invasion of the Yuan (Mongol) on the southeast China in 1279. Under the dynasties of Ming in 1368-1644 and Oing in 1644-1911, the Chinese colony in the area started and the city became the Guiyang’s seat, a superior prefecture.

Guiyang was known as a significant commercial and administrative center with two distinctive groups of people, the Sichhuanese, living on the new northern section of the city and those who live on the old southern section of the city, the Hunan, Guangxi, and the Guangdong province. When the Sino-Japanese War in 1937-45 occurred, Guiyang became one of the least-developed provinces in China. In 1949, development of the city has began. Guiyang became the main provincial city and industrial center. The rail system in Guangxi was finished in 1959 that allows great connection from Guizhou going to Chongqing going to the north, to Kunming going to the west and Changsha going to the east.

Guiyang is one of the cities in China that is known as an olden alpine city constructed 1071 meters above the sea level. Guiyang is the capital of the province of Guizhou. There are also beautiful mountains in the city, as well as lots of historical places.

One of the most popular craft in the city is wax printing, which is a traditional printing craft by the Chinese folk and the traditional wax printing that is handmade are more valuable compared to the machine made.  Guiyang, China is now improving more for prosperity of an economic kind, but poverty is still common and manifested there.
