London Sights and Landmarks Guide, Ontario

London, Ontario is a relatively small city but has caught the attention of everyone in Canada as well as in USA.  It is now one of the most popular destinations in the country because of their various offerings that will certainly entertain the whole family.  

Parks and Forests  

There are more than 200 parks located in the city. These parks ranges from relatively small parks to large parks that could be enjoyed by the whole family during the summer season. The most popular park of London is the Springbank Park. This 140-hectare park offers the best London parks has to give. There are also smaller parks that are found around the city that specializes either in scenic ponds or rare flora and fauna.  

Museums  

London, Ontario is never lacking in museums. The museums range in themes from archaeology and also modern sciences. The Museum of Ontario Archaeology is home to artifacts that are estimated to be more than11,000 years old. The Banting House National Historic Site is also a must see for tourists as this is the birthplace of insulin. The museum also chronicles the life of Sir Frederick Banting who was instrumental to the discovery of insulin.  

Historical Structures 

The city is also known for its numerous historical structures. The history of London has fostered the preservation of different structures around the city. The city's oldest family owned structure named Eldon Residence still stands virtually untouched. You can feel that you are being transported to the 19th century the moment you stepped into this home. Another historical structure that should be visited is the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate which is not only a historical structure but also a beautifully landscaped park. The Grand Theater should not be missed as well as this is the oldest performing theater house in the country.  

Summer Festivals 

The best time to visit London, Ontario is during summer. Not only is the city is at its best weather but also the numerous festivals that happen almost every week. Not to be missed is the Rib Fest and Sunfest. The former is dubbed as the second biggest in North America while the latter considered as one of the most significant cultural and music festival in Canada.  

Natural beauty, extensive history and fun activities are never rare in London. This small city could easily entertain anyone as they always come out with something to accommodate their tourists.
