Charlottesville, VA US - Overview: City of Three Presidents

Charming as it is, the city of Charlottesville was founded in 1762 and is often referred to as the 'City of the three presidents.'  This name was given to it owing to the fact that it was in reality home to three US Presidents - Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe.

Designated as one of the best cities of the US to live in, Charlottesville has been rated as a place providing the best quality of life to its residents. Additionally, it is also rated as one where the cost of living is not very expensive and the climate is mostly favorable.

Located on the Rivanna River near a region, which is known for its apples, Charlottesville lies in the lap of nature, impressing both its residents as well as visitors with its natural beauty.

Culture

Charlottesville has since long had a culture that focuses on the good things in life. While its vineries have attracted visitors, who come here on wine tours to satisfy their love for this delectable drink, there are others, who are attracted to its sheer beauty. It has an infinite range of activities from ballooning to hiking, theatre to music and basically art to commerce. While sports in general are given equal importance, Charlottesville has carved a name for itself when it comes to Lacrosse.

Art

The essence of Charlottesville lies in its love for art. While concerts and Broadway shows take place on a regular basis in many of its theatres, it also has a professional outlook towards the performing arts. Theatrical performances are a favorite in this part of the country and it comes as no surprise that there are a number of well-equipped theatres, which enhance performances with their layout, technology and lighting.

Reaching Charlottesville

The city of Charlottesville can easily be accessed by air, road and rail. It is served by its own airport as well as by the national passenger rail service and the intercity bus terminal.

Enviable Infrastructure

What gives Charlottesville an edge over many other cities is its superb infrastructure. While basic infrastructure like transport and communication has been well designed so there is easy and un-interrupted movement, other infrastructure with regard to education and hospitability meets world standards. The city has in its premises some of the prestigious institutions like the renowned University of Virginia, The Institute of Textile Technology and the CFA Institute. It has functional and well-equipped hospitals as well as The National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) within its borders.

A wonderful combination of art, commerce, sports and infrastructure, the city of Charlottesville is truly magnetic by nature.
