Laredo Travel Guide, Texas

Laredo is the only city that has a bridge which connects two Mexican States.  It is also the biggest inland port in the United States.  Majority of its population is of Hispanic Race followed by White Race.  Only a few percentages of other races such as Asians, Blacks and Native Americans are residing in the city.

Travel

The city has one airport which is the Laredo International Airport.  The said airport has everyday flights to and from Dallas and Houston.  It also offers flights to and from Las Vegas three times a week. Its carriers are the American Eagle, Continental Express and Allegiant Air.  Laredo can also be reached through car and bus rides. In addition to that, the city has two railroads.

Climate

The city's climate is affected by the Mexican Mountains, the Gulf of Mexico and the Northern Mexico deserts.  Due to this, the weather can change from dry and warm to vicious storms and tornadoes.  The temperature in Laredo can go up to 100oF during summer.  Winter days are cold but the temperature does not reach freezing point.  Snow is experienced during Christmas but it only lasts for a few hours.  The wettest months are during May and October but the precipitation is not heavy enough to solve the drought concerns of Laredo.

Annual Events

Washington's Birthday Celebration is the biggest event that happens annually in the city of Laredo.  It starts from mid-January until the end of February.  This month-long celebration encompasses the Jamboozie, which is a colorful event that is similar to the Mardi Gras.  Another event that is celebrated with food, music and parade is the Mexican Independence Day in September.   The so-called Fishing Derby is done every August.

Attractions

Laredo offers a lot of activities to do and views to visit.  The attraction ranges from scenic parks to historical and cultural museums.  Activities can be fun for both children and adults.

One of the most frequented places in Laredo is the TAMIU Planetarium which is enjoyed by kids and grown-ups alike.  Another tourist spot is the Lake Casa Blanca which has an artificial lake.  Here, people can do a variety of activities such as camping, swimming in the lake, boating, skiing during winter, and mountain biking.  Even architectural structures are amusing because they display Spanish, American or Mexican style.

Dining in Laredo is also pleasurable. Of course, most restaurants serve authentic Mexican cuisine.  However, tourists can also find dining places which serve American and Asian dishes.

A stay in Laredo will definitely give you all the choices you want.  It will give you a different kind of experience which you may have never had in your own hometowns.  Take time out to track the events and think of the time by which you could pay a visit to Laredo.
