San Bernardino History, California

The city of San Bernardino, CA, US, occupies the main part of San Bernardino Valley that the native tribe people formerly referred to as “The Valley of the Cupped Hand of God”.

San Bernardino is the oldest community in California and is renowned as Bernardino of Siena in 1810. The city in its current day position was not settled until 1851, when CL pierced the Union. The pioneers related with The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints established the foremost Anglo American colony, which would afterward be recalled by Brigham Young. San Bernardino was legitimately incorporated in 1857. Later, this city became one of the most important trading hubs of southern California.

In 1891, the government of the United States made it an ancestral reservation and forenamed it after “Santos Manuel”.  

In 1883, the southern railroad of California, a rail-link between Los Angeles and the entire nation was established via San Bernardino. In addition, the city of San Bernardino approved its foremost charter in the year 1905. Nonetheless, World War II brought in what later became the Norton Air Force Base. Also, the McDonalds brothers created the McDonald’s trade name in addition with its pioneering restaurant conception in 1948.

The fire in 1980 destroyed about 248 homes and in 1994, the Norton air force base almost became San Bernardino International Airport.
