Mobile ranks third when it comes to the most popular city in Southern Unites States state of Alabama. This city is situated on the central Gulf Coast of US and is Mobile County’s county seat. It is the principal municipality of Mobile Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is solely composed of Mobile County. 

Nestled at the junction of Mobile Bay and Mobile River on the northern Gulf of Mexico, Mobile is the single seaport in whole Alabama. The Port of Mobile plays a very major role in the fiscal health of the city and is the key trading center amidst Native Americans and the French. The Port is among the largest ports of United States.  

Historical overview of Alabama 

Mobile started as the foremost Capital of French Louisiana in 1702 and in its initial 100 years, it was a city-state for France, later Britain and then Spain. The metropolitan gained its recognition from Native American Mobilian tribe, which the colonists of French established in the vicinity of Mobile Bay.

Cultural overview of Alabama 

As one of the cultural centers of Gulf Coast, this city house numerous art museums, a professional opera, a symphony orchestra, theater, mobile civic center, a huge concentration of the historic architecture and a professional ballet company. Mobile is renowned for boasting the oldest organized Carnival festivities in United States, which dates back the early colonial period. It also used to host the foremost formally arranged carnival crew or mystic society in United States, dating back 1830.

The Mobile’s Carnival merriment begins by the end of September with various balls along the parades generally starting in the midst of January. The carnival gala ends promptly by the stroke of middle night on Mardi Gras, indicating the commencement of Ash Wednesday as well as the leading day of Lent.  


This city boasts variety of attractive places including the Battleship Memorial Park, which is a military park at the shoe of Bay and attributes WWII, battleship USS Alabama era in addition to Oakleigh Historic Complex, Conde Charlotte House, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, Gulf Coast Exploreum and the Bragg Mitchell Mansion among the major ones.  

Apart various attractions, the parks and gardens of Alabama such as Mobile Botanical Gardens, the Bellingrath Gardens and Homes, Cathedral Square and Langan Park are worth visiting.

When it comes to transportation, the city includes a Regional Airport catering to five main hub airports, six railroads, two prime interstate expressways, a spur coverage and deepwater terminals making traveling all the more comfortable and fun.
