The city of Puerto Escondido (which actually means hidden port in English language) happens to be one of the many port cities in the country of Mexico. This port city of Puerto Escondido is situated in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. It is also part of San Pedro Mixtepec Distrito 22 municipality of Oaxaca. The city of Puerto Escondido is one of the famous tourist hot spots in the country of Mexico due to the number of beaches which bring in huge number of opportunities for various surfers.

Till 1950 the city of Puerto Escondido wasn’t connected to its neighboring cities by any road transport system. It was this year when a new road via Sola de Vega (named 131) was opened which connected the city of Puerto Escondido to Oaxaca City. After few years another national highway was opened which connected this city of Puerto Escondido to the tiny city of San Pedro Pochutla. Later on the same highway was extended to connect the city of Puerto Escondido to the city of Rio Grande. Finally the same highway connected the city of Puerto Escondido to the city of Acapulco.

Since then many new highways have popped up in the city and road transport has become great in the city of Puerto Escondido in last few decades. Two more highways which increased the connectivity of Puerto Escondido to major neighboring cities were Federal Highways 131 and 175. Soon the city of Puerto Escondido was gifted with its own airport which was named as Aeropuerto Internacional de Puerto Escondido. This became another reason why tourism has jumped up considerably in last years. Since then the city of Puerto Escondido has experienced heavy construction with many hotels, bungalows, and restaurants being constructed thus boosting the levels of tourism.

As per the census of 2005 the population for the city of Puerto Escondido was around 20000 inhabitants. This small population helps the city accommodate more tourists as the city isn’t heavily populated thus offering a refreshing atmosphere to the tourists. Whenever you are in the country of Mexico, you must visit this city of Puerto Escondido due to its natural importance and easygoing life style.
