The meaning of the name for this beach is “place of large thorns” which in itself is enough to explain the intensity of waves which this beach possesses. The length of this beach is around 2 miles and waves can touch the heights of around 20 feet which is actually very huge considering the fact that the more the height the better it is for various surfers.
Some other very famous tourist hot spots in the city of Puerto Escondido which can make your trip memorable are Ventanilla, the Mexican Turtle Sanctuary, Manialtepec Lagoons, Playa Principal, Therman springs of Atotonilco, Playa Embarcadero, sports fishing, and deep sea diving of course.
