Puerto Escondido Sights and Landmarks Guide, Mexico

The city of Puerto Escondido is famous for its numerous beaches many of which have gained recognition on an international level due to the huge waves that they produce. These beaches are a paradise for various surfers who want to test their skills on huge waves that can kick your heart out. These beaches are also famous for the calm and tranquil atmosphere which they offer to the tourists that hit this city.

Although the city of Puerto Escondido has around 300 miles long beaches altogether, this does not mean that beaches are the only tourist hot spots available in this city. The city of Puerto Escondido is also famous for their beautiful mangroves and lagoons. These regions have diverse flora and fauna along with the awesome marine life which the coasts deliver. You will get the chance to enjoy the sight of various turtles, migratory birds, armadillos, and various crocodiles while you are in and around these beautiful beaches of Puerto Escondido.

Chacahua Lagoons is one of the famous untouched tourist hot spots in the city of Puerto Escondido. The beautiful and heavy mangroves here stretch for around 20 miles in width. This region of Chacahua is actually made up of three different lagoons like Chacahua, Salinas, and Pastoria. This place is also amongst the very rare natural sanctuaries available in the country of Mexico.

Playa Zicatela is famous for its huge waves which provide the perfect place to practice surfing to its extremes. The meaning of the name for this beach is “place of large thorns” which in itself is enough to explain the intensity of waves which this beach possesses. The length of this beach is around 2 miles and waves can touch the heights of around 20 feet which is actually very huge considering the fact that the more the height the better it is for various surfers.

Some other very famous tourist hot spots in the city of Puerto Escondido which can make your trip memorable are Ventanilla, the Mexican Turtle Sanctuary, Manialtepec Lagoons, Playa Principal, Therman springs of Atotonilco, Playa Embarcadero, sports fishing, and deep sea diving of course.
