Nairobi Sights and Landmarks Guide, Kenya

Nairobi is popular for its engaging nightspots, yet Nairobi during the day is equally stunning. Several trips and tour packages can be arranged on your way to exploring this African Safari. Of course, a chance to see those lions, tigers, zebras and giraffes in their full glory and not in captivity is one opportunity that is hard to pass on. When going on a Kenyan trip, prepare for great adventure.

The Nairobi National Park is just on the outskirts of the city and home to the herds of zebras, packs of lions and tigers, families of leopards, tall giraffes and over 400 species of birds. The chance to behold how a safari ecosystem and its members go about with their daily lives is a perfect scenery to watch using your binoculars or video cams.

The Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, which is in close proximity to the national park, has provided homes to the orphaned elephants and rhinos and other victims of poaching for over the past years. Giraffe Centre, in Lang'ata breeds endangered Rothschild Giraffe and some warthogs for preservation of its kind. They also conduct conservation or education programs for Kenyan children.

The Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park, a 2,146-meter mountainous area, has a large population of Buffalo and serves as a refuge for Colobus monkeys, bushbuck, duiker, leopard, and a large variety of bird species. The natural wonder does not stop there with the existence of the Fourteen Falls and the Thana River perfect for rafting trips.

Of course, the museum will never be outdated. In fact, it is the perfect venue for everything about the past. The Nairobi National Museum depicts the history of the city including its history, culture and heritage. The National Railway Museum is the venue where anyone can learn about the history of Kenya’s railroads and the Kenya-Uganda railways.

Meanwhile the Bomas of Kenya portrays its culture by way of its traditional Kenyan homes, artifacts, dances, music, and song. Kenya and Nairobi in particular are home to a never-ending adventure for the feet, a feast for the eyes and a wonderful backdrop for photographs. Therefore, it is only apt to explore the city to fill albums of unforgettable pictures and minds and a heart full of memories that will last forever.
