Paralia Travel Guide – Paralia of Katerini

Paralia is a beautiful cosmopolitan beach resort located 4 km east of Katerini and 70 km south of Thessaloniki, in the prefecture of Pieria, in the southern part of Central Macedonia, Greece. The municipality of Paralia is near Korinos and its seat is the city of Kallithea. Most of the area is dominated by farmlands.

With a population of more than 1,480 inhabitants, Paralia is a wonderful beach resort at the Olympian Riviera with sandy coastline and clean blue waters. There is also a small port in Paralia.

Paralia is one of the most popular tourist destinations for both Greeks and European tourists. The famous Mount Olympus is some kilometres away. The beaches of Korinos, Olympiaki Akti or Nei Pori are very close too. The ruins of the ancient city of Dion or the Venetian Castle of Platamon are also good sites for visiting especially if you are interested in Greek history. All these, gathered together, make the beach of Paralia become one of the most popular Riviera resorts. Just finish to read this Paralia Travel Guide and you will convince yourself of the beauties to be found there.

Paralia Travel Guide – The Beach of Paralia Katerinis

It is a completely new resort with clean sandy beaches and no deep waters, which gathers thousands of tourists during the summer months as being the most popular beach resorts in the Balkans.

When going to Paralia, the first thought flies to sea, sun, souvlaki and traditional Greek music and dances. The beach resort of Paralia Katerini offers the greatest deals of facilities and amenities a seaside resort can offer. Its hotels, taverns, restaurants and bars are full of tourists in summertime. Quality affordable lodgings and accommodation, beautiful souvenirs to buy and the abundance of local beauties to visit make the place a wonderful one as there is no time for getting bored.

Pieria combines sea and forested mountains at the same time offering splendid landscapes for travelers and adventurers to explore. It also combines beaches and mountains in the same region as well as ancient sites with modern elements of architecture, a dreamland!

The most impressive spot that can be found in Paralia is its white beautiful orthodox church on the Promenade, rising right on the shore. Typically Greek, the church is such a marvelous masterpiece of architectural sacral building!

Paralia Travel Guide – Public Transport & Accommodation

Paralia is accessible from the main highways GR-13 and GR-1/E75, which links Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece, and the capital city, Athens. It is also situated at 70 km far from Makedonia International Airport and 4 km far from Katerini, which is served by the main railway line.

A busy network of national and regional bus service provides the best links between the main sites and the Riviera resorts. Car rental services are also available.

Hotels ranging from 1-star to 3-star offer the most affordable commodities and amenities at various rates. Villa rentals are also available at low rates. Booking in advance is really necessary. There might be no vacancy during the high season.
