If you are interested in the nightlife in Turku, you are not going to be disappointed by what is available. It starts with family friendly activities such as concerts which are available almost everywhere. Depending on where you are in the year, there is always something available that you can partake of during the evening and nighttime hours such as festivals for jazz, rock, new age and assorted musical styles. Most of the festivals do take place in the spring, summer and autumn months however, so visiting during this time period is really the best way to get things done.

Cafes are another great way to enjoy the nights in Turku and there are many different cafes around that really allow you that type of enjoyment. For example, the Cosmic Comic Café is a specialty café that allows people the chance to drink with their buddies while at the same time partaking of free readings of various comic books from different parts of the world. Café Mansikkapaikka is on the other end of the spectrum as it is a very intimate café that is meant more for couples to spend a quiet evening together chatting in hushed tones.

In addition to cafes, there are also pubs and bars located all around the city of Turku. Alvar is a very typical bar that you would see in any city in the world and it can definitely be a welcome reminder of home if you are suffering from culture shock during the early days of your trip. On the other hand, Pikku-Torre is very much a Finnish pub in the sense that you can get Finnish beer and watch Finnish sportscasts on television when you are in that pub. It is a great way to blow off steam at the end of the day if you just want to sit down and have something to drink with your friends.

Nightclubs are also present in great numbers in Turku, forming the nightlife activities of many that visit the city. The teens and twenties tend to hang out at places like Night Club Marilyn which is famous for popular and disco music, while people that are older tend to congregate in areas like the Giggling Marlin. There is a lot of choice however, with over a dozen clubs available and for that reason, it really is more a matter of personal preference than necessity.
