Hamilton Sights and Landmarks Guide, Ontario

Hamilton is a city in Canada that offers lots of outdoor and cultural attractions for its tourists. The African Lion Safari is situated at a half an hour’s drive of northwest Hamilton, and resembles a zoo. You have to drive through the park in their tour bus or your car where you get to see the wild animals that roam around freely in the park.

This wildlife park spans 300 hectares and has rhinos, tigers, zebras, vultures, lions and other animals. Dundurn Castle of Hamilton is not actually a castle; it is a majestic house and an example of the luxurious life of Hamilton in the mid 19th century.

The Hamilton Military Museum holds a spellbinding Victoriana collection, and is found on the grounds of Dundurn Castle. It houses lots of information about Canadian military history from War of 1812 to World War I.

For the art and history lovers

The Art Gallery of Hamilton offers a comprehensive collection of contemporary art, historical Canada and even a European collection. There is always an exhibition or program held in this art gallery. You can take a look at different levels of Canadian football in the exhibits found in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is a living museum showing all the different types of aircraft that the Canadian Military had used from the start of World War II to the present. There are many aircrafts that still fly in this aircraft collection of Hamilton.

The Hamilton Museum of Science and Technology gives examples of the technology that helped in the modernization of the Victorian era. There are two well preserved steam engines that were used for pumping clean water in 19th century. It was built mainly to protect Hamilton from cholera outbreaks and the fires that had destroyed so many cities.

Looking for adventure

If you are looking for some excitement, head down to the Adventure Village. This is an amusement park meant for families. It is located in Confederation Park, Hamilton on the banks of Lake Ontario. The park spans over 3 acres consisting of rolling hills, 5 waterfalls, shipwrecks and fish ponds.

There is a lot to do in the park, including golf in its 18-hole miniature golf course, racing on its Krazy Kars, climbing Rock Mountain, gemstone mining and even play arcade games and other games in its games room. The park offers an extensive menu of reasonably priced meals and combos, along with a picnic kiosk for huge groups.
