Philip S. W. Goldson Airport is the closes international airport to Belmopan, and it has incoming and outgoing flights to and from several major destinations. The airport serves Belize City, the former capital, but it is only 1.5 hours distance from Belmopan. There are frequent flights to and from nearby Mexican cities such as Chetumal. Tropic Air, Belize’s domestic airline operates flights between Philip S. W. Goldson Airport and the country’s other minor airports. The flights are usually very short, less than half an hour, but you can enjoy some spectacular views. There are several bus companies that operate between Belmopan and Belize City, San Ignacio, Dagringo and other cities. In Belmopan, the best way to get around is on foot.
