Hermosillo History

Later on it was 5th September, 1828, when the city of Villa de Pitic faced another name change and it was called as the city of Hermosillo. This name was given in the memory of Jose Maria Gonzalez de Hermosillo who was the major general for the army which had fought for the independence of Mexico in the year 1810. This general was the leader of the army who fought for independence from the state of Sinaloa. It was 26th April, 1879, when the city of Hermosillo was tagged as the capital city for Sonora.
