Biblioteca Joanina. The well-known Biblioteca Joanina, which was a gift from Joao V in the early 18th century, is the Old University’s library. The tables are made of rosewood, ebony and jacaranda and add to the relaxation of students while reading. The elaborately frescoed ceilings make this library more appropriate for studying.
