Binghamton, NY US – Overview: Ninth Greenest City

Binghamton is located in the Southern Tier of New York, US. The city is known by the nickname ‘The Parlour City’ for its tidy streets, smart homes and mansions. Because of its neatness, the Country Home Magazine declared it as the ninth greenest city in the entire nation. This place is where the two rivers the Susquehanna and the Chenango meet.

Climatic conditions

Regarding the climate in Binghamton, the winters and summers do not have a huge effect on its inhabitants. The climate has the characteristics of a continental type. Normally, it has humid climate having snowy winters and wet summers. Summers are usually warmer and less humid. One unique and blessed thing is that there is no dryness in Binghamton.

Capital of Carousels

You can find here six different collections of the world’s largest and famous carousels. Each carousel is ethnically designed with amazingly hand carved horses. All these carousels are still functional and the city is called the “Capital of Carousels” of the world.

Art and Sports

One thing in Binghamton, which has shown a great development, is the art field. More pervasive art galleries are available; there is also a First Friday Art Walk, which is sponsored by some local artists. Huge crowds gather for this famous event. Sports like hockey, tennis, football and basketball are regularly practiced here.

Binghamton University & IBM Corporation

The city is the resident of one of the famous and top ranking universities: Binghamton University. We have to say that the University has an important impact on the economy and is at the origin of software giant, the IBM Corporation.

There is always a state of perfect security for the resident and tourist. Binghamton has some of the bravest police officers, security forces and fire fighters.

Transportation

Binghamton boasts the presence of an airport, which serves to various destinations like Philadelphia, Washington D.C, and Detroit. To travel within Binghamton, one can find frequent bus services, rail services which make the transportation a thing not to bother or worry about during a tour in the city.

Binghamton is the place where both the young and old enjoy a lot, as it is a great and artistic treat for tourists.
