Savannah Nightlife, Georgia

Savannah is the largest city in the state of Georgia in the United States, with a population of about 127,900 in 2006. Established in 1733, it was the first colonial city of George and was its state capital. Savannah is an important port, situated on the Savannah River. However, tourism had emerged as one of the major drivers of the economy in recent times, with annual revenue of more than $2 billion. Savannah has the nickname, ‘Hostess City of the South’ and the downtown area of the city is considered as one of the largest districts termed as National Historic Landmark in the US. There are ample facilities for the tourists in Savannah, particularly for those who want to enjoy an exhilarating nightlife.

Nightlife in Savannah

Due to its reputation as a historic town, with charming tourist attractions, the nightlife of Savannah is not very well known to the outside world. However, the fact that the residents have an easygoing nature coupled with artistic tendencies provides lot of spark to the nightlife of the city. This is reflected in the multitude of bars, pubs, and clubs in Savannah.

The Pinkie Masters Bar had been visited by former President Jimmy Carter several times, due to the friendship of the owner, Pinkie Masters with the ex-president. If you like old ambience and love classics, then Planters Tavern and 17 Hundred 90 Inn & Restaurant are the ideal places for you.

Upscale socializing with wines and live music is famous at Jazz’d Tapas Bar. Rich martinis and compatible desserts are the norm at Lulu’s Chocolate Bar. If you wish to be among the locals, then Bernie’s is the place for it. Chuck’s and Blaine’s are the wilder areas in Savannah, being gay lands.

If you have a beautiful companion or accompanying friends whom you want to impress, then Casimir’s Lounge at the Mansion provides the right atmosphere. The terrific interiors, the terrace overlooking the historic district, and the piano music of this Lounge on Forsyth Park, form an everlasting memory. Many local pubs imitate their UK counterparts and are very good for a relaxing drink with something to bite. These are the ideal places to start the nightlife in Savannah.

Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub, Churchill’s Pub & Restaurant, and Vida Restaurant & Wine Bar are the places where you are able to enjoy the pub atmosphere of England, specially recreated for the discerning visitors. The Moon River Brewing Company is the only brew pub in the city, preparing beers on the premises. All the brews could be tasted first and then the beer selection could be made here. Club One had become famous after the book and the movie ‘Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil’ as the Home of the Lady Chablis, the drag queen in the movie. Throbbing music and high-octane dancing through the night is the specialty of Club One. The video bar in Club One is known for its game and pool machines, frozen drinks, and spirited dancing. Cabaret shows are also conducted here during the weekends.
