Olsztyn Nightlife, Poland

Although Olsztyn, the capital of the Warmian-Mazurian Voivodeship, is not a very big city, its streets become very animated at night. Olsztyn nightlife revolves around two centers: the Old Town (Stare Miasto) and the Warmian-Mazurian University campus (Kortowo). Located in the woods surrounding Kortowo Lake, the campus is one of the largest in Poland. Except its numerous sports facilities, nice views of the lake and small shops/fast-foods, the campus has an interesting way of entertaining students: each dormitory has a club/bar on the first floor.

Olsztyn Nightlife – Restaurants

As for Old Town Olsztyn, this coquette historic quarter is fully packet with cozy restaurants, whose menus and prices are adapted for every taste and pocket. If you’re looking for some good Polish food, you can try "Świeże Zupy", an intimate soup bar, Restaurant Zamkowa, Hotel Gallery 69 or Hotel-Restauracja Taverna Pirat. There are some tasty Greek (Greco), Italian (Diavolo Pizzeria, Pepperoni) and Japanese (Yoko Sushi) restaurants. The vegetarian restaurant “Greenway”, had become a local celebrity, not only because of its mouthwatering dishes, but also due to its small rates. The local dish called ‘zapiekanka’ (bread baguette with mushrooms & cheese), served by most fast-foods, is definitely a must.

Olsztyn Nightlife – Bars and Clubs

What’s really nice about Olsztyn bars and pubs is the fact that they have been very well integrated into the medieval appearance of the town. No matter if they have several floors or just a few seats, the atmosphere is always warm and friendly. The list of popular pubs includes Bohema Jazz Cluj, Indygo, Szafa, AQQ or Café Molotov (some of them are also hosting live music and gigs). As for dance addicts, they can choose between Club Azimuth, Club Impuls or Laguna.

Olsztyn Nightlife – Cultural Events

There are high chances you’ll fall right in the middle of some festival of event, especially if you visit Olsztyn during summer. There is an Olsztyn Blues Nights festival, the Artistic Summer in Olsztyn, manifestations that take place during the whole summer, the All-Poland Castle Meetings (poetry) and a Jewish Week. The Theatre of Stefan Jaracz and the Puppet Theatre have weekly representations.

As for live music, you can find it everywhere, starting with Olsztyn Philharmonic and ending with the underground scene. When you want to relax and take a breath of fresh air, take a night walk in the shadow of Olsztyn Castle; just watching the clear waters of Lyna River will make you forget about all your worries. If Olsztyn seems too small for your tastes, you can get a taste of Gdansk Nightlife or Warsaw Nightlife in just a few hours’ drive.
