The city of Torreón happens to be the municipal seat for the Municipality of Torreón. The city of Torreón is situated in Coahuila State which is amongst the many states that make up the country of Torreón. The city of Torreón is situated somewhere near the south western border of Coahuila State. This city is situated in the proximity of Laguna region which is also located in the State of Coahuila.
The municipality of Torreón stretches over an area of around 2000 kilometer square which includes many rural regions that are located around the city of Torreón. The altitude for the city of Torreón is around 1000 meter which you might feel to be very high but in reality it isn’t. When compared to many other interior cities of Mexico, this altitude of 1000 meters is actually nothing. The city of Torreón is around 55 kilometers away from San Pedro de las Colonias which was the starting point and the hub where the famous Mexican Revolution actually took place.
The climate for the city of Torreón is hot and very dry during the summer seasons. In the summer season the temperature for the city of Torreón is around 43 degree Celsius which is actually very high for a city that is located on the heights of around 1000 meters. The temperature for the city of Torreón during winter season drops below the freezing point of water which forces the locals of the city to pack themselves in their homes. The huge difference in temperature during two different seasons in the city of Torreón becomes an important reason why so many tourists visit this city. They get the chance to enjoy the extreme conditions and also the moderate conditions which occur between the two different seasons.
Three neighboring cities namely Gómez Palacio, Lerdo, and Torreón have been together called as Comarca Lagunera which is actually a basin right in the borders of Chihuahua Desert. The group of these three cities has become an important economical hub in the country of Mexico in last couple of years.
The city of Torreón is amongst those few cities of Mexico which are working very hard to grow and touch the levels which other famous cities have touched. It will surely be a wonderful trip to be a part of the city which will surely be something in the times to come.
