The city of Tapachula is situated in the state of Chiapas, Mexico. It is located on the southern section of Chiapas and the border of Guatemala is situated in its proximity. The climate is hot plus humid thus sometimes it becomes hard for the locals to enjoy their life. The best time to visit this city of Tapachula is either in winter or in spring when the surroundings are bearable and your tour can be enjoyable.

The city of Tapachula is famous for its historical culture the city preserved successfully in last decades. It was due to this historical culture that the government of Tapachula has always taken keen interest in this city. Due to this involvement of the local government the educational institutes have increased in last few years. Although the level of education might not be that high as it is in other cities of Mexico,there are many universities that offer majors in medicine / civil engineering, architecture / system engineer, and law / accounting.

That is why the city of Tapachula is also called the Pearl of Soconusco (or Perla del Soconusco in local Mexican language).

As per the census of year 2005, the population was around 190000 inhabitants. As per the same census, the population for the municipality of Tapachula was around 282000 inhabitants. This huge population makes the city of Tapachula as well as the municipality of Tapachula the 2nd largest when compared to all other cities and municipalities of Chiapas.

The population is a mix of Native Americans, Spanish, Mestizos, Chinese, German, French, Japanese, and many other. The presence of people from several countries gave birth to the Tapachula International Fair which has now become an important yearly event in this city.
