Guatemala is a fascinating country between its ancient Mayan civilization, Spanish colonization, Political Turmoil and local culture, it has more than enough to interest the travelers that come to this great city.

This city is decorated with beautiful colonial architecture.  Guatemala City has numerous churches all around its downtown center, which make the area absolutely exquisite.  Some of the churches that you can go to include the Calvario, the Cerrito del Carmen, the Iglesia de Yurrita, the Iglesia de Santo Domingo, the Iglesia de la Merced and the stunning Catedral Metropolitana.  These are attributed to the Spanish Colonization.  If you are more interested in the Mayan religious sites, you may want to head over to the Kaminal Juyú, which is an archaeological site of the Mayans.
