The city of Münster is part of Westphalia region in Germany which is located in the states of Lower Saxony and North Rhine. This city is also known as the cultural hub for Westphalia region and happens to be the capital city for Regierungsbezirk Münster. It is situated on the banks of Aa River and in the proximity of River Ems. Also, in the proximity is located Westphalian Bight which has many settlements and various farmyards which are altogether known as Münsterland.

A famous saying in Münster might give people the thought that this city is usally gripped with heavy rainfalls but in reality it experiences around 750 mm of rainfall every year which is the average rainfall that Germany gets annually. The annual average temperature for this city is around 9 degree Celsius with around 1500 hours of sun light every year. The temperature for summers is similar to what rest of Germany receives and during winters the atmosphere is mild thus making it one of the best seasons to enjoy in Münster.

The city of Münster is surrounded by many cities and districts namely Havixbeck (which is part of Coesfeld District), Senden (again part of Coesfeld District), Ascheberg, Drensteinfurt (which is part of Warendorf District), Sendenhorst (this is also the part of Warendorf District), Everswinkel, Telgte, Greven (which is part of Stienfurt District), and Altenberge (which is again part of Stienfurt District).

As per the census of year 2007 the population for the city of Münster was around 270000 inhabitants and around 10000 more locals who had their secondary houses in this city other then the regular in some other city. Rate of unemployment was around 6 percent during this census and this reflects that the city was performing well in terms of economical growth for Germany. Around 80 percent of the total workers from this city work in tertiary sector, around 17 percent in secondary sector, and lastly around 1 percent in the so called primary sector.
