Grenoble Nightlife, France

Grenoble nightlife is as exciting as it can get. Maybe it is not the same as in Paris or Cannes, but it has all the trappings to give you the feel of a perfect night out. There are hosts of bars, cafés as well as nightclubs in the area, especially in the vicinity of public squares like Aux Herbes, Gordes, Notre-Dame and St-André. Most of the nightspots remain open till the wee hours of the morning and the services they provide are world-class.

Of course, it is the spirited people of the city (more than anything else) that make Grenoble nightlife more charming. On a happening night you will find the people merry-making – dancing and partying – even in the public squares and you can join them, too.

Grenoble Nightlife – City Bars

There are many watering holes within the city limits. We start with Café des Arts; standing over the bridge at 36, Rue St-Laurent, this bohemian haunt will definitely please you. Le Barberousse (at 3, Rue Bayard) presents a cozy ambience and you get to taste over 60 aromatic (mostly fruit flavors) rum varieties here.

Le Styx, at 6 place Claveyson, can be your destination if you are fond of cocktails. You will also get beer and other drinks. Drinks apart, the 19th century wine cellar brings to you good music, hip-hop, R&B and techno. There’s even an adjoining dance floor.

Le Tord Boyaux is yet another cosy neighborhood bar. Here you can taste regional wines while listening to French music. Unlike other area bars that are mostly visited by office-goers, London Pub (at 11, Rue Brocherie) is frequented by students. The pub has two floors, where the young crowd keep rocking.

Grenoble also has two gay bars - Le Code Bar and Rutli. Le Couche Tard, Le Leyritz, Le Perroquet, Le 3 Canards and Le 365 are the other famous bars in the area.

Grenoble Nightlife – City Nightclubs

Grenoble also has a number of nightclubs. There is Le Dotty (at 56 rte de Lyon), Le Arkange (at 50 Rue St-Laurent), Le Saxo (at 5 place de Agier) and Le Vertigo (at 18 Grand-Rue). While Le Dotty is a fitting place for 30+ age-group, the crowds gathering at the other three are pretty younger. Famous DJs from different European cities mix the music for you but at Le Dotty they fittingly play music from the 1970s and 80s. Top jazz addresses in the city are La Soup aux Choux and Le Jazz Club

Le Georges V (at 124 Cour Berriat) is Grenoble’s sole gay discotheque.

Grenoble nightlife, however, is not limited to pubs and clubs as the city promises you other superior entertainment options like art-house films and Jazz Festivals. Popular venues hosting such city events are La Nef, Les 6 Rex and MC2.
