La Romana Sights and Landmarks Guide, Dominican Republic

La Romana is one of the quickest becoming tourist attraction in the Dominican Republic.  A few years ago, no one even new that it existed and now, with newly built infrastructures for tourism and its naturally esthetic appeal, La Romana is an excellent place to go sightseeing in the Dominican Republic.

La Romana is basically known for its supreme and dreamy beaches with inexpensive resorts built around them.  One of these resorts is the Casa de Campo which is a huge resort destination for travelers.  This premiere resort not only has a private landing strip on its premises but also three championship golf courses and a polo field. There are beaches all around La Romana which are simply stunning.  Such beaches that you can check out include Isla Catalina, Isla Saona, Playa Bavaro, Punta Cana, Playa Dominicus and Playa Minitas.

 You can then go on over to the Casa de Campo International Tourist Port which is located on the Rio Dulce, the sweet river which is also referred as the Romana River.  This is a very scenic place that you can go to where you can watch the boats that travel up and down its streams to transport commercial goods as well as seeing the surrounding green landscape.

For a little cultural field trip, you can go to the Altos de Chavón which has many little shops, restaurants, art galleries and much more in this model town of a 1600s Mediterranean village.  This small village is not located near the Romana River and is a must see to any tourist.

There are various activities to do as well in La Romana, Dominican Republic.  Many include outdoor activities such as swimming, tennis, golf, snorkeling and scuba diving.  There are also various gaming places to try your luck at a local casino playing black jack, roulette and poker.
