Cordoba Travel Guide, Argentina

Córdoba is the capital of Córdoba Province and also the second largest city in Argentina. Córdoba is situated in the region called as Pampas which is actually an area in central Argentina. Córdoba has natural boundaries which are made up of three mountain groups of Argentina. This city is famous for these mountains that lie on its borders and it is also famous for the colonial buildings which are located right in the middle of the city.

Córdoba is the hub of many scientific institutes and universities and hence it is also called as La Docta. Over 200000 students study in various institutes of Córdoba and this has made Córdoba one of the most happening cities of Argentina. Córdoba is said to have the largest chunk of youngsters when compared to other cities in Argentina.

Although colonial buildings have been the favorite of Córdoba’s inhabitants, nowadays many modern style buildings have started to show up in and around the city. If you are keen on visiting some of the oldest buildings of Córdoba, then the area around Plaza San Martin is the place which you must visit. On the other hand the most talked about areas in Córdoba are Nueva Córdoba and the area around Cañada (which is another section where most of the colonial buildings are built).

Córdoba’s climate of is worth enjoying throughout the year. A couple of sunny days in winters is something which people of Córdoba cherish a lot. Winters also bring with them cold and chilly nights but these don’t last long. The rainy season lasts between November and March and this brings with it some humid days too. The best time to visit Córdoba are the months between March and May or the months between August and November as during these months the climate is neither too cold nor too hot. Thus, tourists are able to bear the mild climate of these months.

Córdoba is located right in the center of Argentina and hence this makes it easy for the tourists to travel to Córdoba. One can opt for air travel as Ingeniero Talavella, the International Airport of Córdoba, lies just 10 km away from the city. There is only one railway line in the city which connects it to Buenos Aires and this runs twice a week. Tourists can also visit Córdoba by car or by bus.
