It has a unique place in the world, a location that gives you the freedom to find yourself, both mind and body. Between lakes and mountain peaks in the very heart of Carinthia lies the town of Villach. It is a popular family destination that has specialized in catering for both individual needs and for groups. Being at the confluence of three countries, the resort is also a meeting point for Austrians, Italians and the people of Slovenia making the resort an international one.

Of course you will see other nations there too and the social and cultural exchanges you will experience will definitely enrich your stay. You will come home relaxed and full of energy and with a heavier “cultural luggage”.

It’s a charming, mountain village bustling with and excitement all season long. The beauty of the town and its unspoiled surroundings has attracted visitors for many years. They can just lean back, relax and immerse themselves into the sheer beauty of Carinthia. Here they get the e sense of living life fully, being totally in the moment, where they are exhilarated one minute and relaxed and in tune with nature the next. In other words, they’ll feel awakened in a way they’ll never forget.

But it is not the only reason people come here. The variety of outdoor activities and events is overwhelming. Everybody can find something to meet their needs and it is the sport lovers’ paradise. The region's beautiful lakes offer great surfing possibilities; the mountains are great for mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering, climbing and paragliding. The region is also opened for activities like horse riding.

Being a year round resort winter is also a favored season for families with plenty of activities like snow-shoe walking, Nordic walking, sledding or ice skating. It is the perfect winter vacation destination because there is so much to do. Fun can be found for all ages. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and reconnect with family and friends. It’s a ski adventure that brings families closer together creating memories that will never melt away. Family vacations are all about making memories, whether it’s watching your child try skiing for the first time, or remembering your childhood attempt on the slopes. Locals know how important family time is and Villach is the ideal destination for families looking to create a winter tradition.

The whole area around Villach is beautiful and invites you to explore it adding to your holiday experience. There’s Gerlitzen Alpe with beautiful sunshine and outstanding slopes, then there’s Verditz very popular among the locals.
